Menace Continue to Roll With 5th Win in a Row
The Caledonia Menace continued to show great hustle and team play as the team rolled to their 5th win in a row with a 3-0 victory over Hagersville 6. Great passing and fore-checking led to a barrage of shots on the opposing goaltender. Jacob Burton-Smith got the first goal of the game when he picked up a loose puck off a face-off and shot it past an unsuspecting goalie.

Then early in the second period, Aaron Oppertshauser made it 2-0 on a partial breakaway in which he held off a back-checker and deposited the puck into the top corner on the blocker side. Just over a minute later, it was Silas Johnson's turn to shine as he took a beautiful breakout pass from Kayden Miedema and then skated down the ice and took a blistering shot which went into the top corner and was so hard the goalie probably never saw it. The Menace continued to play well and skate hard but were not able to get another goal. It appeared that Alex Chmiel might have got his first of the year in the third period when he took a shot from high in the slot that appeared to hit the back of the net and bounce out but the referees never saw it enter the net. Goalie Chris Chmiel continued to show improvement in the net getting his second shutout in the last 5 games.  He is posting a 0.60 GAA over that stretch. Next game is on Sunday against hometown rival Caledonia 3.
