Simmington Leads Late Surge to Sweep Express
Brady Simmington had 2 goals and 2 assists leading the Caledonia Thunder to a 6-1 victory and a series sweep of the Ingersoll Express.

The Express struck first early in the first period but two minutes later Aaron Oppertshauser evened the score with a goal assisted by Brenhyn Gavey and Remy Hetram. The game then remained tied until 6 minutes into the third period when Gavey gathered a rebound off a Brady Simmington shot and flipped the puck over the Ingersoll goalie. Oppertshauser then got his second of the game a few minutes later when Simmington battled a puck loose and Oppertshauser picked it up, drove the net, and beat the opposing goalie. After Ingersoll pulled their goalie with less than two minutes to go, Simmington got his first goal when Kyle Arnold passed the puck to Oppertshauser who deflected it up to Simmington who crossed the blue line and shot the puck into the open net. With less than a minute left, Corey Shelton got a goal when he drove the net and shot short side after receiving a pass from Todd Dekoninck. Simmington got his second of the game on a pass from Oppertshauser just a few seconds later to finish the scoring. Aiden Gavey and Todd Dekoninck both received players of the game for their hustle and puck control in the corners. The Thunder now await the winner of the Tillsonburg and Simcoe series to see who they will play next.
