Thunder Advance to Southern Counties Finals
The Caledonia Thunder have punched their ticket to the Southern Counties final with a 8-1 victory over Simcoe.
The Thunder came out a little flat in the first and struggled to maintain possession of the puck against a determined Simcoe team and at the end of the period it was 1-0 for Simcoe. The Thunder continued to focus on the process and they turned it around in the second period with goals coming from Zach Ebert, Brady Simmington, and Aaron Oppertshauser. Brenhyn Gavey, Tristan Walkinshaw, and Aaron Oppertshauser each earned assists. The Thunder again came out strong in the third period and dominated the rest of the way. Ebert and Simmington both scored their second of the game and Brenhyn Gavey scored two of his own. Eric Thompson scored the other. Oppertshauser collected 2 more assists and Todd Dekoninck and Simmington collected one each. Now the Thunder will meet Ayr in the finals on Saturday April 2.
