The Blue Devils Continue Their Unbeaten Streak
The Blue Devils knocked off 2 more games last week, and extended their unbeaten streak to 6 games, with a tie against Hagersville 8 on Thursday night, and a HUGE win against Glanbrook 7 on Friday night.

The Blue Devils battled against Hagersville 8 on Thursday night in the hostile Hagersville venue. No matter, as stellar goaltending and great overall play gave the Blue Devils a solid 2-2 tie to add to their rapidly improving standings in the Haldimand County Local League. Ethan Ferreira started the scoring for the Devils (assisted by Jakob Kubisch), and Jakob Kubisch netted himself a goal to tie up the game (assisted by Drew Pardy). The Devils left the building feeling good about the outcome, but certainly not satisfied. They will be hungry for a victory the next time these two teams meet in battle.

Friday  night's game saw the Blue Devils (known in this game as the Red Rockets) explode on the offensive side, as they defeated the Glanbrook 7 team by a HUGE score of 8-0.  Both teams were held scoreless in the first until, with 2 minutes left in the period, Drew Pardy scored on a fantastic breakaway pass from Jakob Kubisch. Top shelf, baby! Let's just say Pardy broke the seal for the Devils, and it turned into a crazy, goal scoring frenzy. Right before the end of the period Owen Clarke netted a beauty (assisted by Ethan Ferreira).

The second period saw the start of some rough play from Glanbrook; however, they remained penalty-free for much of the 2nd. Nonetheless, the Devils struck early in the 2nd, with a fantastic goal from Kubisch (pretty passing from Pardy and Luke Pain), and not much later with another O Clarke goal (assisted by Dustin Hine and Pardy once again!). Finally, on a much-deserved power play, the powerhouse Pardy netted his second, off an amazing tip-in from a huge Pain slapshot from the point (also assisted by O Clarke). Scoring didn't stop there, fans, not by a long shot, as the Devils finished the 2nd period with the completion of the O Clarke hattie (assisted by Ethan Ferreira and Pain). The Devils entered the 3rd period with a commanding 6-0 lead.

The third period saw scoring start early, with Kubisch adding his 2nd of the night, assisted by Chase Peart. And, thank goodness that not ALL of the hats were thrown on the ice to celebrate O Clarke's hattie, because Kubisch added a hattie goal of his own, assisted by Nicholas Clark and Pain (his fourth assist of the night). The Devils went on a power play late in the 3rd, but were not able to find the back of the net and "settled" for an 8-0 finish...

This game made us all proud to be Blue Devils fans.....er....Red Rockets fans. Other than the outstanding offensive performance by the team, of note in this game was the ability of the Blue Devils to adjust to their temporary red jerseys (seriously, people, there are probably 10,000 colours in the rainbow and we couldn't figure out how to get each peewee LL team their own colour??!?!?). That is, however, until the end of the game when netminder Jakob Bruton-Smith - after making a fantastic save at the post - looked up, saw red in his crease, and belted poor, unsuspecting Devils defenseman Tyler Dinya with his blocker. An innocent mistake, for sure, and it sure is good to know that Bruton-Smith can look after the crease - DO NOT GET IN HIS WAY!! Awesome!

The Blue Devils are next in action at the Dresden tournament this weekend. Go Blue!
