Blue Devils Have Big Win in Glanbrook
The Blue Devils faced a much-improved Glanbrook 7 team on Sunday evening in the hostile Glanbrook Arena

Jakob Kubisch opened the scoring early in the 1st period, with a fantastic Luke Pain- Drew Pardy assist combo. The fans were beside themselves with excitement - to start the game off like this, with the Blue Devils passing up a storm and leading to a great goal....well, how much better could it get?!? Apparently, quite a bit better!

Glanbrook found the back of the net deep into the first and the Blue Devils entered the 2nd period tied at a score of 1-1. The game remained scoreless for most of the 2nd, but late in the period the Blue Devils hit the scoreboard again with a very rare goal scoring opportunity. Drew Pardy snuck one past the Glanbrook netminder (now THAT is not rare this season!), but he was assisted by the Blue Devils superstar goalie, Jakob Bruton-Smith! Seriously, how could this game get any better?!? But wait.....

The Blue Devils entered the 3rd period, up by a nail biting score of 2-1. Twenty-one seconds into the 3rd period, Jakob Kubisch (fed by Pain) took the puck the distance and sent a great shot past the Glanbrook goalie. This gave the Blue Devils some breathing room, although their high level of play and effort did not diminish. The Glanbrook Penguins were able to score a 2nd goal midway through the 3rd, but it was followed up less than a minute later by a Kubisch deke-out spectacular, again assisted by Pain. They each completed the hattie (one with goals, one with assists), and the Blue Devils stormed out of the arena with a commanding 4-2 victory.

The Blue Devils fans were overwhelmed by the team's continued improvement with passing and overall great teamwork. Special mention was made of the coaching staff and their cool, composed approach to their bench duties.....in fact, the fans were heard cheering for the coaching staff at least twice during the game. This game was intense, electrifying and all-in-all a great fan experience. Definitely worth the price of admission! Also of note, there was some great, great play by the forwards Jack MacDonald, Ty-Mac, Michael Swayze, O Clarke, Chase Peart, Drew Pardy, Nicholas Clark and Jakob Kubisch. The forward press is improving every game, and there is a noticeable "spring" in the step of all of these kids. This offensive pressure, combined with the Blue Devils trademark strength in defense, is very exciting to watch!

The Blue Devils are next in action against the first-place hometown rivals, PW3, on Saturday December 19th at 10:30am. Keep it up, boys! Go Blue!
