Great Success at the Bantam AE Food Drive at Zehrs.
Last Saturday, members of the Bantam AE team volunteered their time at Zehrs to help collect toys and food for the Caledonia Food Bank.  They greeted customers at the door and provided a list of items most needed at this time to restock the shelves.  The community was very responsive to the boys politeness and efforts, many asking them how their season was going, giving them positive words of encouragement for helping out and in turn came back from their shopping with generous donations themselves.  One player was amazed when a customer brought back 3 bags filled with groceries for the food bank and only had bought one for themselves.

The selflessness of the boys giving their time certainly transferred to that of the customers as the shopping carts continued to be overfilled throughout the day.  Donations continued steadily from our generous community into the afternoon. Cara Haist, Zehrs store manager, said that having the boys there definitely helped in encouraging a greater amount of donations then usual by community members.  Having them visually there, asking customers if they could help out not only raised awareness for the food bank, but engaged shoppers to want to help the boys out. Dorette Allemang from the Caledonia food bank messaged us to say “Thank you again to the boys, it was an awesome total  of 1137.5lbs” of food was donated during their 6 hours.   Many members of the community in need will not go without thanks to all who contributed their time, money and donations to a great organization.

The boys from the Bantam AE team would like to thank both Dorette and Cara for the opportunity to be able to give back to the community and to all the generous shoppers that day that helped to make the food drive a great success.   Boys, your coaches and parents were very proud of what you did on Saturday, how you presented yourselves, the time you gave and how you helped out in our great community.  You should be proud too knowing you helped someone in need have a much better Christmas season.

From the Bantam AE Team, Coaching Staff and Parents, we wish all of you a very safe and happy holiday.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
