Thunder Rolling Early in Playoffs
Caledonia U11 Team 1 has started off strong after the first two games of the playoffs.

On Sunday, January 22, Caledonia travelled to Glanbrook for their first playoff game against Glanbrook Team3. After giving up an early goal a minute into the game, the Thunder got their legs moving, responding with 2 goals of their own. James G opened the scoring, and Zach A added a goal (assist to Molly F) to give Caledonia the 2-1 lead after one period of play. In the 2nd period, goalie Davin S made several saves in the early going, including managing to keep his body out of the net as Glanbrook players swarmed the crease, keeping the lead until a late goal by the Rangers evened the score 2-2 after two periods. In the 3rd period, Chase W added a goal, before the Rangers responded once again. With the score 3-3, the defence of Nixon Y, Drew G, Blake L, Teddy B, Molly F, and Nate C shut down more offence from the Rangers, the end result remaining a 3-3 tie in the game.

On Tuesday, January 24, Caledonia once again travelled to Glanbrook, this time to take on Glanbrook Team4. As if in Groundhog Day, Caledonia once again gave up a goal in the first minute of play on a breakaway. From there, the Thunder got rolling. Zach A scored 45 seconds later, and Chase W and James G would also score before the end of the first period, giving Caledonia the 3-1 lead. Caledonia kept the attack going in the 2nd period, with forwards Noah K, Violet E, Davin S, Fletcher F, and Layton H all keeping the puck deep in the Glanbrook end. Before the end of the period, Zach A would add his 2nd goal of the game, giving Caledonia the 3 goal lead at the end of 2 periods.  In the 3rd, Caledonia and Glanbrook would trade goals. Blake L, keeping the puck in the Rangers' end, found Chase W open in front of the net, delivering a great pass to Chase, who buried the shot in the top corner. Glanbrook would respond with a goal, but not before goalie Jaxon C made several great back-to-back saves to keep the lead intact for the Thunder. James G would find Chase W with a great pass towards the end of the game, setting up Chase for his 3rd goal of the game to record the hat-trick. The Rangers would add a goal late in the game, leaving the final score 6-3.

The Thunder will next take on the same Glanbrook Team4 on Sunday at home.
