Blue Devils Looking More Like a Team!
Even with a few losses over the past few weeks, the Blue Devils showed a much more team-like approach to their game on Sunday evening, which leaves the coaches (and fans) greatly anticipating their next contest!

The Blue Devils faced the pesky Glanbrook Rangers 6 on Saturday, November 28. By far, the highlight of the evening was a fantastic goal by Michael Swayze - doing what any good forward should be doing - storming the net and waiting for the pass out front. He was assisted by Jack MacDonald, who has been improving his game every time he steps on the ice! However, the Blue Devils came up short and lost 5-1.....enough said about that one.

They were next in action on Friday, December 4th against a MUCH improved Stoney Creek Warriors 11. This looked like a completely different team and it took the Blue Devils until well into the second period to hit the scoreboard. Jakob Kubisch found the back of the net, assisted by Jack MacDonald, who had one of his best games yet. Fairly quickly after, "Johnny Dangles" - or Ty Mac, for you faithful Blue Devils followers - put in a rebound from a powerhouse Drew Pardy sniper shot. Stoney Creek hit the scoreboard late in the second period, and the teams entered the third period with a nailbiting score of 2-1 in favour of your Blue Devils. The third period remained  scoreless until, with 16 seconds remaining and with an empty Warriors net, defenseman Dustin Hine intercepted a pass and took it the distance - making sure the puck hit the net by getting tripped and following the puck into the net himself. That's one way to get 'er done, Dusty! The Blue Devils emerged with a hard-fought 3-1 victory.

In a hockey-filled weekend, the Blue Devils met the hometown rivals PW2 on Saturday morning - a tough schedule after a late game Friday night. The Blue Devils, most likely still fatigued from their tough game Friday night, could not find the back of the net - even with some great shots from the point by Luke Pain and some great dekes by Owen Clarke. The Blue Devils played well and showed more offensive press than they have in recent games, but a hot goalie kept them off the scoreboard. The game ended up as a 3-0 loss for the Devils.

Rounding out the crazy hockey weekend was a Sunday evening game against another hometown rival, PW1. This team also showed much improvement over our last meeting! The game remained scoreless until halfway through the second period when PW1 hit the scoreboard first. This goal was followed quickly by great goal from defenseman Dustin Hine (yes, our defenseman sure can hit the back of the net!!), assisted by Owen Clarke and Tyler Dinya. This goal was quickly followed by another goal from the recent offensive powerhouse Drew Pardy (assisted by Mason Allemang & Luke Pain). The Blue Devils entered the third period up by a score of 2-1. Another nailbiter for the Blue Devils faithful!  The third period saw many offensive chances, with absolutely FANTASTIC passing - something the Blue Devils coaching staff have been encouraging for weeks. Sadly, very late in the third period a flukey shot snuck past netminder Jakob Bruton-Smith - who continues to do great things for the Blue Devils in net - and the Blue Devils were beaten by a score of 3-2.

Currently, the Blue Devils sit solidly in 4th place in the Haldimand LL standings. Now that they have found, and embraced, their passing mojo, the Blue Devils faithful are confident that we will see a victory this weekend, when the Blue Devils face the Glanbrook Rangers 7 (in Glanbrook) on Sunday at 5pm. Go Blue!
