Team Burgundee Advances to the Finals!
Team Burgundee played a great game against Glanbrook 6 in the A division semi-finals and now will play in the finals on Saturday April 1.
Team Burgundee came out flying moving the puck well and fore-checking hard to create numerous opportunities in the offensive end. Mid-way through the period, Connor Dufour hustled hard after the puck and created a turn over which ended up on Charlie Cooper's stick. He quickly fed it back to Dufour who took a shot on net. The rebound came out and Dufour was able to tap the puck by the goalie for the first goal of the game. Logan Holmes also got an assist on the play. In the second period, it was Holmes turn to shine on a high shot from the point that beat the goalie over his glove hand to make it 2-0. Charlie Cooper got the assist. Glanbrook began to pressure more in the third period but goalie Zach Spence was up to the challenge making some key saves. Mason Allemang was also outstanding in his hustle in both ends of the ice. Late in the game Glanbrook finally scored when they pulled their goalie and quickly took advantage of the extra man and a tired line to make it 2-1. But team Burgundee quickly bounced back when Connor Dufour scored his second of the game into the open net on a shot from just inside the center red line. Nathan May got the assist. Final score: 3-1.
