U11 Team 1 Open Season
Caledonia Thunder U11 Team 1 played an exciting home opener on Saturday, October 14.
Hosting a tough Hagersville #2 team, the U11 Thunder Team 1 played a very strong game to open the season. The excitement and fun of opening a new hockey season was evident right from the first whistle, as the Thunder players skated hard and were cheering each other on loudly from the bench.
The line of Nolan G, Layton H, and Jo T created many chances in the opening period of play, getting many shots on the Hagersville goaltender who would make many saves throughout the game. In the 2nd period, the line of Dominic P, Zac A, and Fletcher F would generate even more chances out front of the Hagersville net. Not to be outdone, the line of Corbin D, Spencer K, and Callum W would also create many offensive chances, including an exciting breakaway that just missed.
For both teams, it was a defensive matchup throughout the game, as the score remained 0-0 entering the final period of play. Defence pairs Davin S and Bennet H, and Mason A and Niko P, would hold the Hawks scoreless until a late goal gave the Hawks the 1-0 win.
Player of the Game for the Thunder was Dawson F, who made multiple huge saves throughout the game, including stopping a couple of Hagersville breakaways.
The fun the kids were having on the bench cheering on their team and their effort on the ice show that this will be an exciting season for this Thunder team, who is looking forward to their next game next Saturday at home vs Cayuga Stars #1.
