U11 Team 1's 2nd Game Another Close One
Although the score read 2-0 for Cayuga at the end of the game, Caledonia U11 Team 1 played a 2nd close game in a row to open the season.
On Saturday, October 21, Caledonia U11 Team 1 played their 2nd game of the season. Similar to game 1, the Thunder's defence came to play. Jo T, Bennet H, Mason A, and Niko P kept the Cayuga offence at bay in the first period, playing strong defence the rest of the game as well.
Even though Caledonia would give up the first goal of the game in the 2nd period, the offence had many chances. Corbin D, Callum W, and Dawson F were especially strong in front of the Cayuga netminder, just missing a couple of rebounds. Zac A, Layton H, Fletcher F, and Spencer K all had several scoring chances, but the strong play of the Cayuga goalie kept the Thunder scoreless. Dominic P and Nolan G were also digging in on the offensive side of the puck, creating many scoring chances.
Unfortunately, Cayuga's defence and goaltending was too much for the Thunder to overcome in this game, as the Stars won 2-0.
Player of the game for Caledonia was Davin S, who made a couple of breakaway saves to keep the game close throughout.
The Thunder look forward to their home-and-home games with Glanbrook Rangers #2 later this week.
