Thunder Capture 1st Win of Season
On Thursday, October 26, Caledonia Thunder U11 Team 1 travelled to Glanbrook to take on the Rangers Team #2...

The Thunder came out of the gates strong, working together as a team with strong passing and pressing the attack on the Rangers team.

At the 4:40 mark of the first period, Jo T set up Fletcher F with a pass that Fletcher took into the Rangers end, shooting in the top corner of the net to give the Thunder their first goal of the season and the 1-0 lead. A minute later, Davin S would pass along the boards to give Zac A a break, which Zac buried into the Rangers net to give the Thunder the 2-0 lead.  Wingers Callum W and Nolan G would then press the offence even further, setting up Nolan G for a goal. Not to be outdone, the line of Dominic P, Bennet H, and Spencer K would go into the Rangers end with a few seconds remaining in the period, with Spencer K sending a shot past the Rangers netminder to give Caledonia the 4-0 lead after one period of play.

In the second period, goaltender Dawson F turned aside several opportunities from the Rangers, before Layton H assisted Zac A later in the period to give Caledonia the five goal lead heading into the third.

In the third, the entire Thunder team played strong defence, with Corbin D and Bennet H especially helping get the puck out of the Thunder end. Defenceman Mason A had a couple of strong rushing attempts that tested the Rangers' netminder before Zac A completed the hat-trick, scoring to give Caledonia the 6-0 lead.
Dawson F collected the shutout in net for the Thunder, while Zac A received player of the game for his strong defensive play and hat-trick.

The Thunder played well as a team, cheering each other on throughout the entire game, and look forward to the 2nd half of the home-and-home series with Glanbrook Team 2 this Saturday afternoon.
