2020/21 Thunder Season Update
Good Day,
CDMHA Families.
As this
hockey season has come to a close we have had a few inquiries regarding the
possibility of refunds for the season.
As we close out our financials, the CDMHA executive has reviewed what is remaining in this year’s budget and made a decision as follows: There is approximately $30,000 remaining in this year’s budget of which more than half was received from Sponsorship and grants.
As a result of that, the Association is proposing a decrease in the cost of registration fees for the next hockey season as well as the purchase of hockey aids for use by the entire Association. There are many factors that we have taken into consideration when coming to this proposal. First, the Hockey Canada payment system is set up for payments only, not refunds and the Association would incur a significant cost to process each refund and we don’t believe this is fiscally responsible to our sponsors or the association. Second, there will be an increase in the cost of programming next year, as we already know that the County ice fees will increase.
Rather than increase the fees to reflect this, a percentage of the remaining budget for this year will be put towards what would have been increased fees and another percentage will be put towards programming, which will allow the decrease to the overall registration fees. It is important to note that the decrease in fees will only be effective for the 2021-22 season. CDMHA will review the registration fees prior to the 2022-23 season.
Our intent is to continue to make hockey as affordable as possible for every player who would like to be on the ice.
