U18 Reps are Bill Batten Tournament Champions
The U18 Rep team travelled to South Huron this weekend for the Bill Batten Memorial Tournament.

In our first game, we faced off against Fort Erie and the boys battled to pull out a 3-2 win.  Later Friday night, they followed up with a 2-0 over llderton to get us off to a great start.  That set the table for a must win game versus Mitchell Saturday evening.  The tournament was such that without a win, the loser could be left to a tiebreak scenario for a wild card spot.  The game with Mitchell was a back and forth affair that was tied at zero after two.  In the third, our team put the pressure on to go 3-0 and hung on by adding an empty netter for a 4-2 win, sending Mitchell home.   Sunday would see us matched up with Mooretown in the semi-finals.  Our boys came out hard with a convincing 5-0 win to give us a birth in the finals against Dorchester.  In the final game, our team came out to a strong start but the game remained tied at zero after 1.  We jumped ahead in the second, only to give up two quick goals to trail by a goal.  This was the first time we trailed all weekend.  The boys fought back to tied it up before the end of the second.  It all came down to the third period for a winner take all.  With just under 5 to go in the third, we took advantage of a bad line change and went down to score on a break away.  The boys held on to secure a 3-2 win and tournament victory.   For many players on our team this was their last chance for a minor hockey tournament and the weekend certainly did not disappoint as it was a great weekend on and off the ice.
