DevelopmentAs Coaches/Parents we provide the process or path to develop yourself as a person, student and athlete etc. To develop yourself, it is your responsibility to engage in the process or walk the path of development. This means that anyone who wants to increase or grow their skill, abilities or knowledge in any area must do more or train whenever they can and actually want to do it. Mom and Dad shouldn't have to bug you or remind you to do it, developing your self is your responsibility and you must want to do it to improve.
The more you develop your skill, knowledge or abilities the better you will preform in any area of your life.
Routines
What is a game day routine? Watch the video below and if you have a game day routine write it down and give it to me or have your parents email me with your routine at
[email protected] If you do not have a game day routine lets work on starting one this season.
Warm Up
Stickhandling
So right now, Coach needs you all to walk the development path of
Stick handling on your own time at home. All you will need is a flat smooth area big enough to do your drills/exercises, your stick and a puck/ball and be able to follow along with the video. This first video is 6 minutes long and has a timer built into the video and is meant to be done in the morning everyday, but it must absolutely be done on practice and game days.
Shooting:
Hey Team I would like you all to start shooting pucks on our own time at home on a regular basis or as apart of your daily routine. What you need is space with a smooth surface to shoot, a hockey net, pucks, stick and your hockey gloves. There are 7 different types of shots listed below, what I would like is for you to preform each type of shot 20 times, so that means you will take 140 shots each time you do this shooting routine. This Shooting routine should be done 3-4 times a week and not on a game days.
