Glanbrook Stops the Kings' Win Streak
A hot goalie kept the Kings' big scorers at bay as the Kings fell 3-1 to Glanbrook on Friday night.

The Kings struggled to gain momentum in the first period - obviously, the sugar high from numerous end-of-school-treats had worn off by 8:30pm and the Kings seemed lacking in energy. They went down quickly 2-0 to a fast Glanbrook team. The Kings rallied later in the game, with Zach Archibald finally netting the Kings' first (and only) goal. The Glanbrook netminder may have played the game of his life, with the swarming Kings hitting him full throttle. The Kings must have had 10 shots on net in one mad scramble,  but to no avail. In our own net, however, Josh was having a ridiculous game of his own; if not for Josh, the score may have easily been 10-1. Is this kid for real?!?

Notable events of the evening:
a) Mason Allemang played the lights out on defense
b) Ty MacDonald, while legitimately getting tripped, earned himself a 9.6 and the Oscar for best dramatic interpretation of a penalty in action
c) Luke Pain, while getting called on a questionable "body contact" penalty with no accompanying retaliation penalty (NOBODY puts Baby in the corner....especially MINE....heehee!) displayed that teams may want to think twice about messing with the Kings as he managed to wipe out two Glanbrook players in one foul swoop
d) the coaches, with a shocking turn of events, added Coach Jeff to the "benchtop" staff - leaving the crowd to wonder, "what are they preparing for? A bench-clearing brawl? Better positioning for vocal "encouragement" of referees? Was Coach Chris demoted - is there going to be a "change of the jackets?" Or were they just trying to match the number of Glanbrook coaches standing atop the opponent's bench?"

All in all, a very entertaining game with plenty of scoring opportunities. This reporter, for one, is certain that this is just a blip on the road to the Cup and the Kings will rebound with a vengeance tomorrow against Cayuga. Bring your high heels, ladies and gentlemen.....we may need some help looking this opponent straight in the eye....?!?
