Kings Have a Stellar Weekend
The Kings rebounded from their loss last weekend to pull out a win and a tie in a tough Caledonia vs. Caledonia weekend.

The Kings first met with the PW4 Yellow Jackets on Saturday morning. The Kings showed tremendous hustle and determination and jumped out to a 4-1 lead by the end of the 1st period. Goals were scored by Liam Rabbat (assisted by Zach Archibald), Zach Archibald (assisted by Liam Rabbat), Kyle Arnold (assisted by Kieran Lagan) and Brayden Pauls (assisted by Kieran Lagan). The crazy Kings' fans were disappointed that the refs would NOT give Zach Archibald his second goal of the game when he decided to put HIMSELF in the net - "A" for effort, young Archibald...

The Yellow Jackets scored late in the 1st to make the score 4-1 after one period of play - and much of the 2nd period saw the score remain the same. Late in the second period the Kings' fans saw the highlight of the game when Dylan Kay scored his first goal of the season (assisted by Luke Pain). Overshadowing the goal, however, was the reaction of Dylan's teammates when he scored. They jumped on him and celebrated like madmen - showing just how fantastic this TEAM has become - stressing the word TEAM.

The Kings entered the 3rd period with a solid 5-1 lead. The Yellow Jackets scored early in the 3rd, but the Kings responded with the one-two punch combo of Zach Archibald, assisted by Liam Rabbat. The Yellow Jackets managed to add 1 final goal to their tally when the Kings become a little discombobulated when the big defenceman Luke Pain stormed forward with a fantastic rush (obviously he was pulled down in the corner, much to the dismay of the Kings' faithful). But, it was too little, too late for the Yellow Jackets and the Kings emerged victorious, with a score of 6-3.

The Kings ended the weekend in a hard-fought battle with the Caledonia PW2 Ice Dogs. The Ice Dogs jumped to an early 2-0 lead at the end of the first period, and held that for much of the second period. Zach Archibald took matters into his own hands and scored an unassisted goal late in the second. The score remained 2-1 for much of the game, when that faithful duo of Archibald/Rabbat managed to net the equalizer late in the third. Although the Kings had a few chances in the dying seconds, the game ended in a 2-2 tie. It was a very chippy, intense match - but the Kings managed to keep their composure and stay true to their clean, sportsman-like play.....unless, of course, you count the illegal hooking of your own teammate, involving two unnamed Kings defencemen - but no matter as it gave the coaches and the fans one more excuse to express displeasure with the refs.....

This team is a dream to watch, and after interviewing most of the coaching staff they have all agreed that the team is a dream to coach as well. There can be no better example of a true "team" in the Haldimand County Local League - they are tough, yet kind; they are determined, but always fair; they are aggressive, yet true sportsmen. There is no team that has improved as much as the Kings (a testament to the coaching staff) and the trust that has developed amongst the linemates has been noticeable. Keep it up, Kings - great things ahead!!

The Kings enter into a very tough weekend schedule - meeting Hagersville 10 on Friday night, Glanbrook 8 on Saturday and the Yellow Jackets on Sunday. Stay tuned for more Kings action!
