Kings Finish Weekend With Even Record
The Kings lost in the Royal Rumble on Friday night against the Glanbrook Kings, but rallied back for a convincing win against Hagersville on Saturday afternoon.

In a "Royal Battle" Friday  night the Kings fell to their arch nemesis, the Glanbrook Kings. This is the only team that the Caledonia Kings have yet to conquer.....and they are right on the cusp of victory. Many factors play into the equation....but the best story is how this little purple team from Caledonia consistently battles with heart and fire against the Giants known as Glanbrook. For anyone familiar with the story of David and Goliath, it is only a matter of time before Caledonia uncovers the secret to victory....and the time is drawing near. With the exception of the first meeting of these two teams, Caledonia has kept the score tight right up to the third period. Friday night's game was no exception.

With a rowdy crowd cheering on both sides, the game started slowly for the Kings as Glanbrook scored 2 quick goals to get an early lead. However, top scorer Zach Archibald netted an unassisted goal late in the 1st period, and followed it up quickly with a 2nd goal right before the end of the period. This time, he got a little help from Connor Lagan and, although not on the score sheet, a keen set of eyes in the crowd saw Luke Pain get the 2nd assist.

The Kings entered into the 2nd period with the scoreboard tied at 2....and the Glanbrook crowd quickly realized they were losing the battle of the fans as the Caledonia faithful took over, even throwing a "wave" into the mix. The Kings played a hard 2nd period, seeing Zach Archibald complete the hatty, assisted by Dylan Kay. However, they finished the 2nd period down 4-3. Although they fought hard through the 3rd period, another 2 goals from Glanbrook were unmatched by the Kings, and they fell to the Glanbrook Kings by a score of 6-3. The Caledonia Kings played a hard, tough match (that was surprisingly clean - thanks, refs!), and came a little bit closer to victory. The fans are looking forward to the next game against this feisty group.

On Saturday the Kings travelled to Hagersville where the game was a bit more physical yet had a much better result.

Scoring opened for the Kings with a TSN highlight-style goal, finishing with a pretty pass from Liam Rabbat to faithful performer Zach Archibald. The fans were delighted by the spectacular goal - there were so many passes back and forth between these two that the fans were on the edge of their seats, wondering WHO was eventually going to shoot and score! This set the tone for the dominance by the Kings. The first period closed with an unassisted goal from Kyle Arnold who used the goalie's pad for some assistance in finding the net. The second period saw Archibald snipe a great goal to put the Kings up 3-0. Archibald completed his 2nd hatty of the weekend (thank goodness Grandpa did NOT throw his hat out on the ice!) to put the Kings up 4-0. Hagersville answered late in the 3rd but it was too little, too late as the Kings emerged victorious.

The Kings are currently sitting in 2nd spot in the playoff schedule as they enter the "tournament break" and head to Windsor for Family Day weekend. Stay tuned for more playoff action in upcoming weeks!
