Team Burgundee Wins A Division Championship!!
In an exciting game from start to finish, Team Burgundee beat Hagersville 4-3 in overtime to claim the Bantam A Division Championship.
Evan Regnerus scored the first goal of the game early in the first period with a low hard slap shot from the slot. Tommy Woodhouse and Connor Dufour got assists on the play. Hagersville managed to tie it up late in the period to make it 1-1 going into the second. In the second period, Team Burgundee again took the lead on a shot from the side by Aaron Oppertshauser. It was unassisted. Then Hagersville tied it up 2-2 on a powerplay when Team Burgundee could not clear the zone. Shortly after, Hagersville took the lead making it 3-2 going into the third period. With just over 2 minutes left in the game, Reuben Hill tied it up when he skated it up the side and beat the opposing goalie with a hard low shot. Nathan May got the assist. Despite Team Burgundee having a couple of chances to score late in the period, it ended up a 3-3 tie sending the game into overtime. Each team had chances to score early in the overtime but with less than 3 minutes left, Charlie Cooper passed the puck to Aaron Oppertshauser who put it toward the net. Jean Cloete then became the hero when he was able to jam the puck past the goalie giving Team Burgundee the championship. It was a great team effort and an exciting way to finish the season.
