Dos Santos Gets Shutout In Thunder Win
After a tough Huntsville tournament at which the Caledonia Thunder tied one and lost two, the team returned to the ice at home against Ingersoll.

The Thunder came out flat and the Ingersoll team played tough leading to a very evenly played first period in which Lucas Dos Santos had to be sharp in the goal making a few very good saves. The Thunder did manage to get on the scoreboard when defenseman Kyle Arnold made a great rush down the right side and rang a hard shot off the goal post that went right to Brenhyn Gavey who knocked it down and shot it in the net for the 1-0 lead. In the second period, the Thunder began to take control of the play but the Ingersoll goalie was outstanding making save after save keeping the score 1-0 after two periods. There was a tense moment in the period when a shot from the point bounced between the legs of the Thunder goalie Dos Santos but he reached back and pulled the puck back underneath him. The referees talked but decided that they did not see it cross the goal line. In the third period, the Thunder continued to take shot after shot but the Ingersoll goalie came up big over and over again. Finally, with just over four minutes left to go, Macgregor Lawrence fired a hard shot that somehow got through the pads and into the opposing net to make the score 2-0 and give the Thunder some breathing room. Zach Ebert got an assist on the goal. The score remained 2-0 until the end and Dos Santos picked up the first Thunder shutout of the year. Next game is Tuesday in Simcoe. Players of the game were Kyle Arnold and Remy Hetram who both did a good job of controlling and moving the puck and Tristan Walkinshaw whose positional play in the offensive end has been outstanding.
