Oppertshauser Helps Lead Thunder to Victory
The Caledonia Thunder traveled to Tillsonburg to take on the only team that has beat them in the regular season so far.

The team was missing a couple of key players so it was imperative that the rest of the team step up to fill in the gaps - and they did. Late in the first period the Tornadoes opened the scoring but with just over 30 seconds left in the period, Corey Shelton got a drop pass and fired a puck on goal. Aaron Oppertshauser then collected the rebound and shoveled it over to Todd Dekonink who deposited it into the open net to even the score at 1-1. In the second period the Thunder kept coming with Oppertshauser firing a bar-down shot into the goal on a pass by Carter Gillam to give the Thunder the 2-1 lead. Less than a minute later Tristan Walkinshaw buried another one into the very top of the net. Eric Thompson and Zach Ebert picked up assists on the goal. However the Tillsonburg Tornadoes kept coming and tied the score up with 2 goals mid-way through the period. Then with less than 2 minutes left to go, Oppertshauser scored his second of the game off a scramble in front of the net. Brady Simmington and Brenhyn Gavey collected assists on the goal. The Thunder then continued to press and kept the Tornadoes in their own end the rest of the game giving them the 4-3 victory. Player of the game was Aaron Oppertshauser but special mention to Carter Gillam who battled hard and blocked shots throughout the entire night. Next game is back in Tillsonburg Wednesday night.
