PW4 Starts The Season Off With Promise
The still unnamed PW4 team started the 2015-2016 season showing their new, yet already faithful, fans that they will be an entertaining and hard-working team this year.

Game 1 of the season saw the Blue Somethings battle hard against the feisty team from south of the city limits - the Cayuga Stars. While I was not present for the game, all reports indicate that it was easily a game that the Somethings could have taken as a win, with many scoring opportunities and lots of shots stopped by our goalie, Jakob Bruton-Smith. Scoring for the Somethings was provided by Jakob Kubisch and Owen Clarke (glad to see his secret moves still work), but the Somethings were not able to clinch the win and left the Cayuga arena with a tie. A good start to the season!

Game 2 came against the dreaded Glanbrook 6 team. No one likes to see red helmets or red pants out there on the ice, but the Somethings - again - could have easily taken this game as a win. They stuck with the red pants, sometimes even from a seated position - as defenceman Tyler Dinya showed that being on your backside never leaves you completely out of the play. It was a great defensive show by the Somethings, including interesting foot-first slides to save shots (apparently Luke Pain has watched WAY too many Blue Jays games). Dustin Hine and Mason Allemang combined with Dinya and Pain to show just how strong this defensive unit will be this season.

Scoring for this game was provided by Jakob Kubisch - who was assisted by both the crossbar and the back of the goalie's head. Unfortunately, though there were quite a few opportunities to score, the Somethings were unable to find the back of the net again and fell to the Rangers by a score of 2-1. For those of us who have experienced Glanbrook  "magic" in the past, this was a very encouraging result for the beginning of the season.

The Somethings had great play from Ty Mac and Drew Pardy, and once the team finds its offensive rhythm they will be a force! The team will be looking to players like Jack Mac, Michael Swayze, Ethan Ferreira, Nicholas Clark and Chase Peart to push the puck forward and provide many scoring opportunities for themselves and their teammates. Watch out, PW Local League - the Somethings are starting to roll!

The Somethings are next in action on Saturday afternoon in Valley Park for their first encounter with a team from the newly-added Stoney Creek area. Game time is 4pm. Sunday, they will meet home arena rivals PW1 at 4pm. Get there early to make sure you have a great seat for all of the action!
