The Blue Devils off to a Great Start for 2016!
The Blue Devils ended the 2015 part of the season with a tie against the #1 PW3 team, then started 2016 off with a bang, recording two wins in their first two games of the New Year!

Way back on December 19th the Blue Devils faced the powerhouse PW3 team in a tough battle on a warm Saturday morning.  This was a long-anticipated match-up, and the Blue Devils were fired up and ready! And, it's always an enjoyable game for the hometown fans when two evenly-matched Caledonia teams face off on the ice. The Blue Devils were first on the scoreboard, when Ethan Ferreira slipped a quick one-timer past the PW3 netminder, off of a brilliant pass from linemate Jakob Kubisch. The Blue Devils were on the TSN highlight reel again! They were able to hold off the offensive onslaught until late in the 2nd period, when a streaking PW3 player slipped past our defense - which rarely happens! - and put PW3 on the board. Both teams battled evenly for the rest of the contest, and this game went down as a tie in the record books. Of note in this game - and this is a VERY important note - Jakob Bruton-Smith had his finest game of the season - perhaps in his young career - and let me tell you folks, if you missed it, you missed a goaltending clinic! He was completely on fire, and has found his goalie mojo! Without question, the star of the game!

The Blue Devils headed into the New Year with a contest against a pesky Cayuga Stars team. The team was held scoreless until midway through the 2nd period, when Ty Mac - #1 in our hearts, and apparently in our program on Saturday - snuck one past the Cayuga netminder (assisted by Tyler Dinya). Later in the early 3rd period, Jakob Kubisch added an unassisted goal to put the Devils up by a score of 2-0.  With 20 seconds remaining the Stars found the back of the net, but there was not enough time for them to even the score - your Blue Devils emerged victorious by a narrow 2-1 margin. Another fantastic game in net for Jakob B-S.

To round out the weekend, the Blue Devils faced Hagersville 8 on Sunday afternoon. Looking a little more peppy than they did on Saturday morning, the hometown Devils stayed off the scoreboard until early in the 2nd period when Owen Clarke took a Luke Pain clearing shot and scored a short-handed goal. This kid has so many moves, it was great to see him find the back of the net! Hagersville scored early in the 3rd to put them even on the board, but that was short-lived....Tyler Dinya, with a shot that "taunted" the visiting squad - seriously, this shot had wings, as the puck twisted and twirled through the air - and lobbed into the net just over the goalie's shoulder.  Assisted by Jack MacDonald, and just as importantly, bro-hugged at the blue line by his linemate Dustin Hine.  The Blue Devils added some reassurance to the lead with another Jakob Kubisch goal (assisted by Dinya and Drew Pardy), and the hometown squad emerged with a convincing 3-1 victory.

The Blue Devils are next in action Thursday night in Hagersville. Go Blue!
